Nick Saban is still loved in Louisiana, I’m sure. But what will they think of him if Alabama beats LSU in a 6 to 2 slugfest? That’s something we won’t know for sure unless it happens.
SEC schools have very loyal fan bases, and everyone at one SEC school hates all the other SEC schools. The conference is so tough that most (if not all) of the schools blow cash to get ahead, giving the conference a motto that “If ya ain’t cheatin’ then you ain’t tryin’.”
With the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs and the LSU Tigers in the BCS National Championship, I actually wonder who the residents of Louisiana care about more. Coming from Northeastern part of the states, where people care far less about college athletics, I feel like the nod always would go to the pro team but in SEC country I’m just unsure.
Alabama and LSU met earlier this year in a close game. That overtime effort was a road game for LSU, and considering the SuperDome is more or less home turf for the Tigers they have an advantage.
You can’t rule Alabama out just yet, though. Nick Saban is a smart coach and he more than likely has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Everyone expects this game to be low scoring like the last one between these two defensive schools, but I don’t see it being as low scoring. That could be just because I don’t want it to be low scoring. I’d bang my head against the wall if I had to endure watching every three-and-out in a game where the final score is -6 to 3. What’s worse is if the final score is 3-2 then everyone will ramble on about how the game was so good and close, when in fact it was just boring.
My idea is this, though: If these defenses are good enough to put their teams in position to score then scoring will probably happen, even if the defenses have to do it themselves. I can see at least one touchdown being scored today by the defense, or by a takeaway that puts a team in great scoring position.
Tonight’s game won’t be high scoring, but I believe both teams will reach the double digits. Heck, even Pittsburgh gave up 29 to the Broncos. Hopefully it’s entertaining, I really don’t care which cheater wins in a corrupt championship game anyway.
I have 3 Predictions…
LSU 17, Alabama 13
Nick Saban will still be loved in Louisiana and still hated by just about everyone else.
And at least one drunk fan will run on the field and delay the game.
Enjoy the game!
